Douala container terminal put to tender
The Port Authority of Douala (PAD) has launched a restricted international tendering to select a new concessioner for the renovation, modernisation, operation and maintenance of the container terminal at the Port of Douala-Bonabéri in Cameroon.
Since 2005, the container terminal has been operated by the Bolloré-APM Terminals consortium, through the Cameroonian company Douala International Terminal (DIT), whose contract expires in December 2019, reported Business in Cameroon.
Shortlisted bidders include Marseille-based CMA Terminals; Dubai Port World, an Emirate company; Hutchison Port Investments Ltd, a company registered in the Cayman Islands; Saudi Red Sea Gateway Terminal; and Terminal Investment Ltd, a company based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The ongoing concessionaire was also shortlisted but has now been withdrawn from the list. The consortium now only holds assets in the deep-water port of Kribi, where it operates the container terminal under a partnership with the French ship-owner CMA CGM and the Chinese company CHEC.
The companies, shortlisted in January 2019 following a call for interest launched in January 2018, have until 18 June to submit their bids.
