Japan to finance Mombasa box terminal

A new container terminal is scheduled to be operational at Mombasa by 2013. A Japanese loan of $207m will fund construction costs of the facility which will be able to handle 1.2m teu. Its opening will coincide with the dredging of the access channel, which will also allow it to handle larger ships.
