Liberia halts inland box terminal project
This will enable financial closure to take place for the first phase of the port project five years after it started operations in April 1999.
Liberia’s National Ports Authority (NPA) has asked Global Security Seals (GSS) to stop construction of an inland container terminal at Monrovia Freeport. This follows a review of the original contract, which the NPA claims does not benefit either the port or the government. Furthermore, the NPA is now seeking a legal cancellation of the contract, which conferred a 12-year concession to build and operate the terminal on GSS.
