Nigerians tackle port corruption
The Nigerian Port Industry Anti-Corruption Standing Committee has said that a new policy is needed to take on corruption at national ports.
Existing procedures require too much documentation, noted committee coordinator, Enoche Ogeny, while some government agencies were not adhering to guidelines on joint cargo examination.
She accused some officials of extorting money for personal gain and thereby creating unnecessary bottlenecks at ports.
