Port users invited to comment on proposed tariffs
The Ports Regulator of South Africa has invited port users and interested or affected parties to attend public hearings on a tariff structure and tariff methodology for setting port tariffs over the medium term.
The tariff methodology that will result from the process will inform the way in which the port tariffs are calculated over the medium term. The tariff strategy will impact the structure and weighting of the tariffs, including which commodities and customer groupings get to pay which proportions of the total revenue recorded by the National Ports Act (NPA).
The NPA’s proposed tariff methodology and tariff strategy will be presented at the hearings which will take place from 4 till 7 March 2013.
The proposed tariffs are for the Port of Cape Town, Port of Saldanha Bay, Port of Mossel Bay, Port of Johannesburg, Port of East London, Port Elizabeth, Port of Ngqura, Port of Durban and Port of Richards Bay.
