Re-nationalisation of Nigerian ports mooted

Lagos state officials have called for seaports at Apapa and Tin Can Island to be taken into state ownership so that better and improved road links can be built.

They claim that, at present, revenue from the port is being diverted to central government at the expense of Lagos state.

If this continues, they claim, the government will have to compensate the state government for additional infrastructure works associated with the port that it will have to make.
