Second box terminal for Dar es Salaam
Construction of a $450m second container terminal at the port of Dar es Salaam is expected to begin early next year. Since 2004, box traffic at the port has grown by 15% a year, although the existing container terminal area has remained static. The new terminal will have a 600,000 teu capacity.
