7 LNG projects win EU funding
The Trans-European Network for Transport (TEN-T) Call 2012 (Multi-Annual Call and Annual Call combined) has selected seven Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) related projects to be recommended for funding.
As part of the TEN-T Annual Call programme two LNG projects have been recommended for funding under priority 2 which specifies “measures to promote innovation and new technologies for transport infrastructure and facilities contributing to decarbonisation or the reduction of external costs in general”.
In addition, the Executive agency also recommended four LNG projects to be funded under the TEN-T Multi-Annual Call as part of the Motorways of the Sea (MoS) programme.
Gasrec Ltd, a member of NGVA Europe, was granted funding for its LNG road transport project in the category “Priority Projects”. NGVA Europe noted with disappointment that this was the only road project selected in this category.
Altogether, for the development of the Trans-European Transport Network in the 2012 Call, €1.597 billion was made available to finance European transport infrastructure projects covering all transport modes plus logistics and intelligent transport systems.
