BW Group wins Egyptian LNG contract

BW Group is to provide LNG regasification services using a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) at Ain Sokhna Port for The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).

BW’s state-of-the-art FSRU BW Singapore, built at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in Korea, will be used for this project. To be delivered by end September 2015 in Ain Sokhna Port and ready for operations in October 2015, the vessel offers a low environmental footprint, high efficiency, storage capacity in excess of 170,000m³ and a peak regasification capacity of 750 mmscfd.

“The project requires a fast track schedule – five months from project inception to first gas – which represents a record short time for implementation, and made possible because of excellent collaboration between EGAS and BW,” he added.

BW is an international gas shipping company with more than 75 years of maritime energy transportation history, 40 years of operational experience in LNG and a current fleet of 21 LNG carriers including newbuildings.

It’s also the world’s largest owner and operator of Very Large Gas Carriers and a leading player in tankers and Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSOs).
