Fendercare supports LNG STS operations

The LNG STS operations were performed by two of the world’s leading gas companies in the Eastern Mediterranean with a number of 152,000cm³ membrane tank LNG carriers and a 135,000cm³ moss-type carrier.

All vessels were delivering cargo to one of Excelerate Energy’s 138,000cm³ floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).

As part of the contract, Fendercare supplied Yokohama Jumbo fenders for the operations and additional ship-specific mooring equipment and a dedicated rigger to help with the secure mooring and unmooring of the LNG carriers. Two large ASD tugs also provided support.

In preparation for the operations, Fendercare simulated the predicted sea states at its UK facilities. The company says this helped it tailor a mooring system to suit. Further simulator sessions allowed for extensive testing of various emergency break away situations.

In addition to STS services, the company offers a turnkey service for the operation and management of onshore and offshore main terminals, supplying pilotage and Mooring Master provision for tandem and CALM buoy berthing.
