Gaussin e-tractors aid NZ decarbonisation

The APM 75T HE port tractor will help port operator CentrePort decarbonize the horizontal transport of containers in the Port of Wellington. It is equipped with Lithium Metal Polymer (LMP batteries, a technology insensitive to temperature variations between -20 and +160°C, designed and produced by Blue Solutions. Gaussin’s APM 75T HE provides significant operational savings in terms of maintenance and energy, addresses zero emissions and noise pollution goals, while increasing productivity, driving comfort and safety

The APM 75T HE incorporates several of the new optional Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Heads-Up Display (UHD), Driver Fatigue Detection System and a sensor kit for obstacle detection.

Shipping of the port tractors will take place this month. CentrePort also ordered 7 TT port trailers, which were received last month.

New Zealand passed a “Zero Carbon” law in 2019 that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to a near-neutral level by 2050. International shipping and port operations are a significant source of carbon emissions. Therefore, reducing emissions in these sectors is a major and global objective.
