LNG solution for India’s shallow draft ports

The MoU between Saga LNG Shipping based out of Singapore and Venerable LNG (VLNG) in India will help bring custom made supply solutions to draft limited ports.

“We at VLNG have a strong belief that tapping into the regions latent gas demand needs innovation in terms of strategy and implementation,” said Mayank Garg, managing director of VLNG.

Bespoke solution

The Bay of Bengal’s shallow coastline dictates a bespoke shipping solution, for which Saga LNG will be providing one or more LNT45-S design LNG carriers.

The 45,000m3 newbuilds will feature an LNT A- BOX Containment system, which will give them no restrictions on partial loading and have a fully laden draft of 7.8 metres.

An LNT A-BOX, is already installed aboard the vessel Saga Dawn, which completed its first LNG shipment for Saga LNG in April 2020.

The vessel is a step forward in Saga LNG providing custom made supply solutions to draft limited ports, which Mr Garg said is a necessity in order to access the distributed demand centres without dependence on third party infrastructure.

Mr Garg said that VLNG’s main aim as an energy innovation company is to develop a sustainable small-mid Scale LNG market in South Asia.
