LNG tool to match shipowners with suppliers

Launched by DNV GL as part of its LNG business intelligence portal LNGi, the LNG Fuel Finder allows shipowners and charterers to connect with suppliers free of charge by submitting a request for LNG bunkering, specifying location, volume and from which date they would like to start bunkering.

Martin Wold, senior consultant environmental advisory at DNV GL – Maritime, said the tool helps shipowners and suppliers come together and “helps to overcome the high entry barrier for new suppliers to the market.”

Users of the free service will also be able to see the locations of all submitted LNG bunkering requests and download the latest statistics on the uptake of LNG as fuel.

DNV GL’s portal was set up to provide worldwide updated information on the entire LNG ship fuel value chain and aims to support newbuild and conversion decision-making and business development to accelerate LNG’s uptake as a ship fuel.

Paid members can access the LNG bunkering facilities map, LNG-fuelled fleet statistics, infrastructure statistics and scrubber statistics. Paid membership for LNG suppliers includes details of bunkering requests in the LNG Fuel Finder with the option of contacting ship owners who have submitted requests.

Mr Wold confirmed DNV GL plan to incorporate additional market intelligence features in the tool in the future.
