New LNG terminal for Jordan

BAM International is to design and build a new €47m LNG terminal in Aqaba, Jordan, that will help develop the country’s energy intake capabilities.

BAM International will design and construct the new LNG terminal to ensure Jordan has a consistent supply of energy fuels

The contract, which was awarded by Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), involves the design and construction of an LNG jetty with approach trestle, including the mechanical, engineering and pipe services.

Located 18km south of Aqaba, the new LNG terminal forms part of ADFC’s plan for developing Aqaba’s energy ports. It will also ensure Jordan has a consistent supply of energy fuels such as oil, LNG and LPG.

BAM International and its local joint venture partner, MAG Engineering and Contracting Co, say they expect to complete the project within a timeframe of 15 months.

Elsewhere, BAM recently completed the extension of Aqaba Container Terminal for APMT and ADC, just north of the proposed new LNG terminal.

It is currently building the quay wall for the Aqaba New Port project, a second port in line with the country’s economic master plan. It is scheduled for completion in early 2014.
