New LNG terminal
At the east coast port of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, India’s GMR Group is hoping to invest $70.8m in a 175m tonne-a-year LNG terminal.
According to local media reports, GMR’s plans centre on Kakinada Deep Water Port berth seven.
India’s Economic Times reported minutes from a meeting of the Expert Appraisal Committee, which has asked GMR to submit its plans to a public hearing.
It suggested that the GMR has proposed a barge-mounted power plant to deliver 850,000 tonnes a year to GMR, which plans to sell the balance to on- and off-grid customers within a 450km radius.
