Progress made at Paradip LNG terminal
Paradip Port Trust (PPT) is making progress on its Rs 3,108 (US$506.3m) crore LNG terminal, which it says will put Paradip and the state of Odisha on the global LNG map, local media reports.
It is understood that PPT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India’s largest gas supplier, GAIL, to make headway on the project.
Plans for the proposed terminal are said to include floating storage and regasification facilities with a dedicated LNG jetty.
Apparently, it will begin operating with an initial capacity of four million tonnes per annum (mtpa), rising to a maximum of 4.8 mtpa, and a storage capacity of 170,000m³.
It is thought that the first phase will be completed by 2017.
It is understood that natural gas will be transported through GAIL’s Jagdishpur-Haldia and Surat-Paradip pipelines.
