New deal for first electric tug project

Two Kongsberg US255 L PM FP azimuth thrusters with integrated PM electric motors will power Ports of Auckland Limited’s (POAL) zero-emission tug, being built by Damen Shipyards as part of POAL’s goal to be completely emissions free by 2040. With a 70t bollard pull, the RSD-E Tug 2513 is a derivation of the IMO Tier III-ready RSD Tug 2513, introduced by Damen in 2018

The thrusters will be supplied from Kongsberg Maritime’s facility in Rauma, Finland.
