Training offshoots bring up standards
Port authorities in the Hamburg-Le Havre range have sought to diversify in the field of education and training.
Antwerp has an in-house training centre offering port training programmes to more than one thousand participants from all over the world.
For Rotterdam, STC-Group, a highly advanced maritime education and training institute has its home base in the port city and educates thousands of people from the Netherlands and abroad for a variety of professions in the maritime and port industrial complex.
The International Maritime College Oman – a joint venture between STC-Group and the Omani government – has been established in Sohar to supply skilled labour to foreign investors’ port and industrial facilities.
Hamburg Port Training Institute and Le Havre’s IPER are also training facilities providing port and shipping programmes both in Hamburg as well as on site at client’s premises overseas.
