Ports academy moves close to reality

The Haven Gateway Partnership commissioned a consortium of three companies to develop a business plan for the academy, for delivery in September.

Their brief included identifying funding strings and potential locations for the academy and working with employers to discuss how this could be delivered, says Haven Gateway project manager Richard Morton.

“We have identified that there is a skills need which is common in the port-related sector around the UK and we must tackle that,” says Mr Morton.”There is a willingness from employers to tell us exactly what they want and discuss what will be delivered and we are also talking to training providers.”
