Keeping the environment in mind

Take Mantsinen for example, and its range of HybriLift hydraulic mobile harbour cranes. The HybriLift cranes boast a number of features that can save up to 35% on energy. The crane has a gantry-style undercarriage that lets trucks or wagons pass. It also features what can be described as “flat track shoes” which let the crane move freely and smoothly on rough surfaces such as concrete, gravel or asphalt.

The latest Liebherr mobile harbour cranes are in tune with the company’s commitment to helping the environment. For example, the centrepiece of the new Liebherr LPS 550 and the LHM 420 cranes is the hybrid drive system known as Pactronic®.

This system manages to increase performance, while at the same time reducing emissions, each by 30%. The Pactronic hybrid drive system allows for a number of benefits – greater handling performance; improved hoisting (hoisting power is doubled resulting in an improved hoisting and lowering with up to 100% higher speeds).

This in turn, means more turnover capacity, but in even quicker time, which saves on costs for maintenance, labour, laytime and energy.

But it’s the reduction of exhaust emissions of 30% that make a huge difference to the environment. The Pactronic system acts as a kind of pressure storage reservoir, which combines a gas with a hydraulic fluid – energy is stored in this compressed gas, which is then released upon demand.
