Camso launches new PON tyres
Camso, the manufacturing company formerly known as Camoplast Solideal, has launched three new press-on (PON) tyre models to meet the growing requirements of forklifts working in high and medium-intensity applications.
The new Solideal PON 775 high-intensity tyre and revamped Solideal PON 555 and 550 medium-intensity tyres have been designed as a series to offer maximum lifespan for different application intensities and provide customers with the solution with the lowest operating cost, the organisation said.
The introduction of the new tyres comes in light of larger forklift models’ use of more specialised attachments and the fact they are now equipped with hydrostatic transmissions, automotive-type active stability systems and specialised attachments.
These types of forklift are now having to carry heavier loads in more confined spaces and move faster, meaning that, along with increased travel distance and less cool-down time between jobs, duty cycles are tougher than previous times.
“When operating in such high intensity applications, tyres are pushed beyond their limits and are very likely to experience heat build-up,” said Erick Bellefleur, product line executive director for Material Handling at Camso.
“This can result in rubber fatigue or even thermal tyre failure, causing unscheduled forklift downtime.”
New benefits
The new Solideal PON 775 tyre model is available in a range of sizes, up to and including a 33-inch measurement.
It is especially designed for high-intensity applications and has a unique sidewall design in order to relieve stress on its edges and reduce ground pressure.
Compared to the Solideal Magnum SM ERP tyre, it offers 90% better resistance to internal heat build-up, 70% better energy efficiency due to low-rolling-resistance rubber compounds and 45% longer tyre life because of an abrasion-resistant tread compound.
Additionally, Camso’s new Solideal PON 555 and 550 products are enhanced versions of the Magnum traction and smooth models of tyres.
They will offer 45% longer tyre life, 6% better resistance to internal heat build-up and an improvement in energy efficiency by 8%.
“As the world’s largest manufacturer of press-on tyres, we know that downtime is not an option for material handling operations,” Mr Bellefleur said.
“It’s our job to understand the unique mobility needs of any forklift and its application requirements.”
