Canada opts for Konecranes
Konecranes has received an order for five Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes from Termont Montréal Inc., a container terminal operator in the Port of Montréal, Canada.
With the new order, the operator is seeking to improve container handling productivity and reliability.
Julien Dubreuil, general manager of Termont Montréal Inc. said: “We selected Konecranes RTGs at the conclusion of a thorough evaluation process covering every aspect of RTG performance, operation, maintenance and support. We are confident that we made the right decision, and look forward to receiving the cranes.”
The five RTGs on order are 16-wheel RTGs equipped with Konecranes’ patented Active Load Control system for maximum stacking productivity. They will have a lifting capacity of 60 tonnes, stacking 1-over-6 containers high and 6 rows plus truck lane wide.
They will be equipped with Autosteering, a driver-assisting feature which keeps the crane on a pre-programmed, straight path, and Stack Collision Prevention.
In addition, the cranes will also be equipped with TRUCONNECT® remote service that provides 24/7 access to a global network of support centres, offering expertise to help solve potential problems quickly and reduce downtime.
Port of Montréal is located at a strategic point where the Saint Lawrence River narrows upon its approach to the Great Lakes, making it an important gateway to the industrial heartland of North America. Termont Montréal Inc. is one of two container terminal operators at the port.
The cranes will be delivered in the second half of 2016.
