Cargotec in Morocco
Cargotec, best known for its Hiab, Kalmar and MacGregor brands, is growing its Moroccan presence through the acquisition of the port service and equipment part of Maghrepic SA.
This purchase is thought to be a strategic move since the country is blessed with both greenfield sites and ports with room for development. Further, it is also located at the Africa – Europe gateway and at the crossroads of essential sea routes.
“A local set-up will further support Cargotec’s ability to serve its customers in the region and act as a springboard for additional business growth in North Africa”, said Mark Williamson of Cargotec’s EMEA region.
According to the agreement, El Mati Alem, Maghrepic’s founder and president, will continue to own and manage the remainder of the company’s business activities. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
