Demag Cranes and Terex integrate

German industrial cranes provider, Demag Cranes Group, has been integrated into global port equipment provider, Terex Material Handling & Port Solutions.

The Port Solution business unit combines Gottwald Port Technology with Terex port equipment

Since August 2011, Terex has held a majority share in Demag Cranes, and following a domination and profit and loss transfer agreement in April 2012, the two companies were integrated. Demag Cranes has been incorporated into Terex as a fifth business segment and will operate under the Terex Material Handling & Port Solutions brand.

The new Terex business segment has been organised into two business groups: industrial cranes and port technology. The Material Handling group will offer industry cranes, components and related services. The Port Solutions unit will combines the Gottwald Port Technology business of Demag Cranes and will offer customers a wide range of manual, semi-automated and automated solutions in the port technology sector.

Aloysius Rauen, president, Terex Material Handling & Port Solutions segment, said: “The integration of Demag Cranes’ Group into Terex Corporation is a strategic gain for everybody. Our customers benefit from a broader range of products, which offer real added value.”

He added: “To serve them even better, we work closely together with the other Terex segments to gain access to markets in various regions, for example, or to utilise existing sales channels. The economies of scale alone have enabled us to achieve considerable savings in our purchasing activities, which ultimately benefit our customers.”
