Diverse orders for Kalmar
Kalmar has gained three important orders, covering a wide range of operations in America, Algeria and Russia.
The first order is for four Kalmar ESC350W units to go to Ports America’s Newark operation. Despite a complement of 70 existing straddle carriers, these are the first Kalmar units to go into operation there (apart from the rental’s delivered at the beginning of the year).
So, eyes will now be on how the new Edrive units handle increasing volumes while still reducing the port’s environmental impact. Additionally, the units will be fitted with variable speed generator systems for further fuel savings.
The second order is destined for DP World Djazair – a joint venture between DP World and the state of Algeria. This order is for 10 DRF450 reachstackers, a model which has, says the company, a reputation for safety and reliability while being engineered to withstand some of the toughest environments in the world.
Lastly, 12 Kalmar TR618i terminal tractors and one Kalmar DCF 90-45E7 empty container handler have been ordered for the newly-built container terminal at St Petersburg. Ten machines have already been delivered with the remaining units scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of this year.
