DP World to share box information
DP World’s terminal operations are to start sending data on containers to an external IT platform called SICIS (Shared Intermodal Container Information System), following successful pilot demonstrations.
The Integrity project, funded by the European Commission, has the aim of improving security and visibility of global container supply chains. The objective of the project and its 17 project partners is the full development of SICIS, which will allow authorised companies and authorities to access planning and status information of selected transports.
The development hopes to enhance security measures through shared data on vehicles, cargo and inspection results, which will lead to trade facilitation and pre-arrival clearance from customs, making whole transport chain performance more reliable and predictable.
DP World became interested in the project’s research activities as they relate to enhancing total supply chain efficiency.
Hutchison Port Holdings has been involved as a partner in the Integrity project since its inception. The new cooperation with DP World extends the scope of the project to additional ports and trade lanes.
