Eurogate to double hybrid staddle carrier capacity
Terex Port Solutions (TPS) is to supply 15 diesel-electric Terex N SC 634 E straddle carriers for Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg – a repeat of a previous order made in April.
All new machines are capable of stacking 9’6” high-cube containers one-over-two. In the terminal, Eurogate says they will replace machines with outdated technology and will join a fleet of Terex straddle carriers.
The 30 straddle carriers are fitted with Terex N TS 62 F twin-lift spreaders and feature a lifting capacity of up to 60 tonnes. Eurogate says the machines will help it increase performance, availability and efficiency of its fleet in the long-term, and to reduce environmental impact.
Together, the Terex straddle carriers and Terex spreaders form a “powerful package”. The spreader functions are controlled by the fully integrated CAN bus control system, a design said to reduce interfaces, making the system of straddle carriers simpler, more robust and reliable.
In addition, the designers focused on service-friendly features for the spreader. The telescopic arms move in maintenance-free guides and are no longer mechanically locked, but hydraulically braced to limit damage should a collision occur.
Delivery to Eurogate is scheduled for early 2015.
