Forklift training pack boosts competency
CM Labs Simulations has produced a new port-focused training pack designed to teach forklift truck driving with an assortment of cargo and highlighting areas for trainee improvement.
The training pack for Vortex Port Equipment Simulators presents opportunities to practice challenging techniques, moving new drivers from basic skills to complex terminal operations with cargo management skills.
“Forklifts are one of the most common machines found on ports and operators need to learn to respect these powerful machines to provide effective cargo movement,” said Lisa Barbieri, VP Marketing, CM Labs.
“Training in the realistic environment offered by the Vortex Forklift Training Pack safely exposes operators to the behaviour and limitations of the real machine. Drivers learn what it takes to work in a terminal and experience a wide range of port operations.”
Complex scenarios
Specific training scenarios include a slalom driving course, maneuvering in confined spaces, handling a variety of fragile loads, and stacking cargo inside containers, on trailers, and on warehouse racks.
Performance reporting tools track user-customisable metrics for each student. This data can then be used to evaluate whether an operator is ready for terminal operations. Instructors can also trigger challenging events—including machine faults and pedestrian traffic.
CM Labs Simulations will be demonstrating the training pack on stand D40 at TOC Europe.
