The order, which is for delivery of the Fleet Solution to ACFS operations in Adelaide, Fremantle and Melbourne, is made up of three units of DCG100 Empty Container Handlers and two units of DRG450 Reachstackers.

It has been booked into the 2018 Q2 order intake of parent company Cargotec, which said that ACFS started discussing its requirements with Kalmar roughly a year ago.

“In order to better understand the customer needs, Kalmar reviewed some of ACFS’ operations and offered several suggestions to improve efficiencies and safety on the site,” Cargotec explained.

“Such suggestions included introducing a greater lift capacity over the second rail line and elevated cabin heights for the DCG Empty Container Handler to improve the operator visibility which assists on improving safety in the work environment.”

According to Cargotec, the Kalmar Fleet Solution lets customers buy a rental fleet from Kalmar ensuring efficient cargo movement with minimal downtime — due to maintenance of the fleet in accordance with Kalmar’s high service standards. There is a fixed monthly maintenance charge.

“This is a revolutionary customer-focused approach introduced by Kalmar to offer our customers the convenience [of] Kalmar [managing] their operating equipment fleet while they focus on their core business,” Cargotec said.

ACFS general manager Tim Holmes noted: “With the Fleet Solution that Kalmar provides, we do not have to worry about breakdown and downtime as they are well-covered by Kalmar in their fully-maintained rental solution.

“This allows us to focus on our core business to deliver best-class container freight logistics to our customers.”
