Kalmar to boost Felixstowe efficiency

The reachstackers have a capacity of 45 tonnes and are supplied with a telescopic Bromma spreader, which features fully integrated legs for out-of-gauge cargo handling duties.

“The Kalmar reachstacker is well adapted to all kinds of diversified cargo handling. The lifting equipment, boom, attachment options and rotation possibilities allow the driver to improve the work efficiency of the unit,” said Dave Patterson, market area director, Kalmar UK and Ireland.

“The equipment will help our customer to reduce fuel consumption while improving customer service,” he added.

This latest contract extend Kalmar’s cooperation with the port, which already has eight Kalmar reachstackers, three loaded container handlers and 15 empty container handlers.

The Port of Felixstowe is thought to be the UK’s largest and busiest container port, and one of the largest in Europe. It handles more than 3.7 million teu and sees around 3,000 vessels each year, including the largest container vessels afloat.
