Konecranes counts TCV and GPA orders
Finnish crane and lifting equipment specialist, Konecranes, has taken new orders from both sides of the Atlantic.
Spain-based TCV Stevedoring Company SA in Valencia has placed orders for four rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes bringing their total in operation to 24.
The 16-wheel RTGs have a lifting capacity of 50 tonnes and come equipped with the Konecranes’ Active Load Control, Diesel Fuel Saver system, Auto-steering and Crane Management System.
The twin-lift operation can stack one-over-five containers high, and six plus truck lane wide.
The Georgia Ports Authority has ordered four Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes to be deployed at the Port of Savannah bringing their total to 26. Four more are on order for delivery in 2018.
The STSs have a lifting capacity of 66 tonnes, an outreach of 60 metres, and a lifting height of 46 metres above the dock.
The port also operates 116 Konecranes RTGs with a further 30 scheduled for delivery.
The new cranes are in anticipation of the opening this year of an expanded Panama Canal, providing an important new route for larger vessels and increasing the average current capacity from 4,500 teus to more than 10,000.
