Konecranes, Kalmar and Navis in demand

The Oslo Sjursöya container terminal is located close to densely populated areas in the Norway capital so the new cranes are being fitted with the most advanced noise reduction technology.

They will also be equipped with the ship profiling and trim/list/skew systems, as well as LED lights for improved eco-efficiency. They will have twin-lift operation for maximum handling capacity, a lifting capacity of 64 tonnes and an outreach of 40m.

Konecranes will deliver the cranes in autumn 2015.

Kalmar orders
Elsewhere, Kalmar is to supply DP World’s Jebel Ali Port in Dubai with 125 terminal tractors and 12 empty container handlers. Of the 125 Ottawa terminal tractors, 104 units feature a fixed fifth wheel with pulling capacity of 85,000kg and 18 units have an elevated fifth wheel for goose neck operation.

The Kalmar DCF 80-45E8 empty container handlers have the capacity to handle eight tonnes and stack eight containers high. All machines are equipped with remote monitoring signals, enabling them to operate on the semi-automated terminal.

Delivery is scheduled for the end of the year.

Navis TOS
In Paraguay, Terminales Portuarias SA (TERPORT) has chosen to implement Navis’ N4 terminal operating system (TOS), making it the first terminal on the Paraguay River to go live with N4 – scheduled for September 2014.

The company says it chose Navis N4 to help optimise its processes and technology as it prepares for an anticipated 10% increase in annual growth over the next few years.

As part of this implementation, TERPORT will utilise Navis’ Expert Decking module, a comprehensive yard allocation optimisation tool that facilitates real-time, accurate and optimised stowage of containers in the yard, making it easier to increase yard capacity and optimise operations.
