Konecranes RTGs for West Africa
Konecranes is set to deliver eight Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes to Bolloré Group’s container terminals in Pointe Noire, Congo and Douala, Cameroon.
The eight RTGs will be equipped with Konecranes’ new smarter cabin offering improved ergonomics, visibility and safety. They will also feature Variable Speed Engine and Diesel Fuel Saver technology, as well as Konecranes’ autosteering technology, which keeps the crane on a pre-programmed, straight driving path.
Antoine Bosquet, sales director, port cranes, region IMEA, Konecranes, said: “Our cooperation with Bolloré goes back to 2007, when Bolloré purchased its first RTG for Abidjan Terminal in Ivory Coast. We have delivered 35 RTGs to container terminals operated by Bolloré Group in West Africa, and we are very proud to get this new order which will bring the total to 43.”

The hydraulic-free, 16 wheel RTGs have a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes. They will be connected to the ports’ terminal operating systems ensure correct, real time container positioning and an accurate inventory.
Konecranes says the RTGs will help to improve operating safety and increase productivity at Bolloré’s container terminals.
