Konecranes RTGs to South Carolina

The cranes will be delivered to SCPA’s Wando Welch terminal in the Port of Charleston in early 2017. Once operational, the SCPA will operate a fleet of 53 Konecranes RTGs.

“This makes our 5th RTG order with Konecranes since 1998,” explained Stevenson Kemp Jr, director of terminal operations.

He said: “We continue to return to Konecranes because their RTGs have proven to be best-in-class in quality of construction, operating characteristics and long-term serviceability.”

“Konecranes also provides excellent technical and maintenance support from their local facilities. We look forward to building on our already strong partnership with Konecranes.”

The cranes will have a lifting capacity of 50 long tonnes while stacking one-over-five containers high and six plus truck lane wide.

They will be equipped with Konecranes’ Active Load Control, which eliminates container sway to increase container handling performance, as well as Auto-steering and Truck Lift Prevention features.

The RTGs will also have built-in readiness for special features including Stack Collision Prevention, and Auto-truck Guiding.
