MAFI launches new tractor generation
MAFI Transport Systems has launched a new generation of terminal tractors aimed at optimising container handling and reducing CO2 emissions for operators.
According to MAFI, the launch of the new terminal tractor range has started off very successfully. A number of new terminal tractors have already been booked for delivery to Djibouti, France and the Netherlands.
Luzia Schmitt of MAFI, said to Port Strategy: “MAFI invested in the design of this new tractor to meet customer’s requirements to make container handling even more efficient, in other words, to be able to handle even heavier loads as more and more ports operate with twin/tandem spreaders.”
The new tractor generation is said to feature increased robustness, improved sight all around and better driver’s comfort. Ms Schmitt added: “Beside this, MAFI Eco Mode – an intelligent drive programme, makes the operation environment-friendly and reduces costs of ownership considerably.”
Meanwhile, other models in the MAFI range also continue to do well. MAFI do Brazil Ltd. has just sold another five terminal tractors to Multirio Container Terminals at the Port of Rio de Janeiro. Multirio’s fleet now totals ten MAFI MT25/30 tractors. This latest acquisition is part of the strategy of the second modernisation phase at the terminal.
