Dedicated to the maintenance and servicing of port handling equipment, Techniplus’s customers include operators at the largest ports in Morocco such as Casablanca, Tangier, Agadir and Jorf Lasfar.

“With a foothold in Morocco, Motherwell Bridge Industries will be able to expand its growing marine engineering services activities beyond the central Mediterranean,” said Tony Mallia, Motherwell Bridge Industries managing director.

He added: “We are looking forward to combining the expertise of the Malta and Morocco teams and leveraging synergies to benefit existing and new customers.”

“Techniplus conducts business in Mauritania, Senegal, Tunisia and Algeria and there are significant business prospects in the wider region.”

Motherwell Bridge Industries has installed over 200 port container cranes over the past ten years for Konecranes at terminals around Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

The Techniplus acquisition will almost triple the size of Motherwell Bridge Industries and extend its footprint into North Africa.

Following the deal, Motherwell Bridge Industries has appointed Alexei Sciberras as Techniplus’ new general manager.
