The company, part of the AUMUND Group, will supply products that will aid the port’s imports of clinker, coal and gypsum in an environmentally-respectful manner.

A number of dust reduction measures will operate at both the intake area of the Eco Hopper itself and on a dusting system located between the hopper and truck.

Dust reduction measures in the order include an automatic reverse-jet cleaning system, air compressors, an inlet grill with suction capacity, a flex-flap creating a pressure differential and a dust filter unit on three sides of the hopper.

Each Eco Hopper is mounted on a chassis, making the configuration’s total height 15.7 metres, which ensures a truck clearance height of more than 4 metres.

The Hoppers’ travel is mobile-powered and the products also have crabbing functionality, allowing specific positioning of the hoppers alongside the vessel, as well as a peak throughput rate of 700tph.

Each Hopper’s inlet grill measures 6m x 6m and is topped by a 2m high shroud, creating an aperture of 8.2m x 8.2m for grab discharge and therefore mitigating the effects of high winds.

The use of ATEX with dust filtration import hoppers is a first of its kind in the market.

Management of air quality and fugitive dust is important at the port as operations occur in a dusty atmosphere which has high levels of humidity and temperatures between 22 and 40 degrees centigrade.
