SmartPort wins over TTI
Kalmar’s SmartPort process automation has found another admirer in the form of Total Terminals International at its Hanjin, Long Beach operation.
TTI’s order includes SmartQuay, SmartLift, SmartStack and SmartMap. SmartQuay employs optical character recognition to identify the container, automatically identifies the terminal tractor, which receives the container, and dispatches the correct work instruction to the terminal tractor operator via a rugged data terminal.
Once the terminal tractor reaches the directed point of work in the yard, SmartLift provides the correct work instruction to the lifting equipment and SmartStack determines the final container position.
