TT Club reports rise in innovation

TT Club has reported that innovation in the logistics sector is on the rise as more and more companies adopt advanced technology and tailored supply chain processes.

Brian Sullivan, development director for UK and Ireland, TT Club

International transport and logistics insurance company, TT Club, has reported more extensive, complex and sophisticated services being provided by its customers which result in a much higher degree of supply chain risk and greater liability. But the company says the trend if a positive one. The increased complexity of service offerings is enabling the mid-sized, regional based supplier to run against with larger multi national competitors.

Brian Sullivan, development director for UK and Ireland, TT Club, said: “Many in the freight transport industry feel that pressure on rates from customers has shorn the operator of the necessary resource to deliver the added-value elements that distinguishes logistics from the straightforward ‘A to B’ transportation of freight.”

The company says it’s important to support and reward quality innovation in the industry and has been a sponsor of the British International Freight Association (BIFA) Awards since they were set up 20 years ago.

On presenting the 2012 award to Delamode International Logistics, Mr Sullivan said: “By re-engineering supply chains from Eastern Europe to the UK, Delamode allowed garment manufacturers to compete on price and service with low cost manufacturers from Asia. Moreover, their successful service and pricing levels allowed small volume customers access to their service.”
