Turkish terminal turns to Terex
Grup Marítim TCB’s Turkish Container Terminal (TCEEGE) has added a Terex empty container handler to its equipment portfolio in a bid to increase handling speed, safety and environmental sustainability.
The ECH can lift a total of nine tonnes, stacks empty containers up to seven stories high, moves at 28 km/hr when empty and 26 km/h when loaded, and it can raise and lower the containers by half a metre per second.
The operator has also started the extension of the terminal, with completion expected by the end of June. When completed the terminal will be 21,000m2 larger than it is now.
In related news, Terex Port Solutions has received the largest ever order for rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs).
From April 2014, TPS will start delivering the first of 26 cranes to Malaysian terminal operator Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas. The order for e-ETGs also includes an option to order an additional 32 cranes.
