EcoPort cert for MHPA

Lloyds Register performed the assessment process at the port, which is part of the European Sea Ports Organisations’ (ESPO) EcoPorts accreditation process – the only port specific environmental standard.

MHPA’s environmental manager, Dave Levell, said: “For many years MHPA has had a structured approach to the management of environmental issues. We operate across a diverse mix of activities which all interact with the natural environment and since we also operate within a European Special Area of Conservation, we do everything possible to ensure that we are environmentally responsible.”

The EcoPorts PERS certification is formal recognition of the work MHPA has done to date. The port has two Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities with the potential to process 30% of the UK’s gas requirements. Milford Haven is fast emerging as a leading energy hub in the UK – 25% of the UK’s petrol and diesel provisions are also handled on the Waterway.

Mr Levell added: “In line with its policy for continuous improvement, MHPA will continue to maintain and enhance its performance in this area.”
