Largest green spreader order for Bromma

The order includes 18 STS45E all electric spreaders as well as 32 YSX45E all electric yard spreaders. The order will help to lower environmental impact at the group’s container terminals.

Bromma’s green cranes require less energy required by hydraulic spreaders which must operate continuously, while all electric spreaders only consume energy when operating. They have been designed with particular focus on spreader weight to reduce carbon footprint. By reducing spreader weight, Bromma’s all electric spreaders lifetime reduction in crane power consumption is reduced to 94 tonnes less carbon dioxide per spreader, savings of 15%.

Elsewhere, Bromma is working with ‘green’ terminals to address areas of environmental impact caused by terminal operations including optimising equipment lifespan, recycling of materials, optimising function and reducing impact during operations.

The spreaders are expected to be delivered during 2013.
