Le Havre renews its PERS environmental certificate

The PERS system sets strict requirements to ports in line with the ISO 14001 standard relying on the political recommendations of ESPO. Le Havre’s first certification took place in 2016.

Alternative fuels

Since 2014, HAROPA-Port of Le Havre and ports in the Seine Bay have initiated a collaborative approach within the scope of the “SAFE SECA” project, the purpose of which was to contribute to develop the use of alternative and competitive marine fuels.

The ports along the Seine corridor and in the Seine Bay have become the first French ports to provide its own specific regulations for LNG refuelling. It is under this scope that the AIDAPrima cruise ship has been refuelling since 2016 when it commenced its weekly calls at Le Havre.

EcoPorts is the main environmental initiative of the European port sector at first funded by the European Commission. Launched in 1997, the EcoPorts foundation has been entirely integrated into the European SeaPorts Organization (ESPO) since 2011.

The main aim of EcoPorts is raising awareness about environmental protection by cooperation and sharing of knowledge and environmental management.

The Port of Le Havre is a member of HAROPA, together with the ports of Rouen and Paris.
