Much use is made of real life examples in both the rail and water sectors where modal shift has been achieved with significant savings. Importantly, it also explains the availability of financial assistance, such as grant funding, to help operators make the switch. Freight Best Practice has traditionally focused on road transport operations, but the release of this new multi-modal guide marks a new era for the programme.
