New interactive format revealed for GreenPort Congress 2013

The 2013 GreenPort Congress will be held in Antwerp, Belgium on 9-11 October 2013 and will be hosted by the Port of Antwerp.

Following the themes of the ESPO Green Guide – Exemplify, Enable, Engage, Encourage and Enforce – that was launched at the 2012 GreenPort Congress, each session will start with two plenary keynote speeches; an overview and a state of play presentation. The session will then breakdown into three working groups which will involve all sectors of the port community: port authorities, port users (terminal operators, logistics companies, shippers, shipping lines etc) and suppliers of equipment and services to the port community. The findings of each group will then be presented by the group moderators to the rest of the audience in a plenary session.

This year’s programme will cover four main topics:

• Air quality management in Ports

• Waste and material management in port areas

• Environmental externalities and community relation management

• Environmental reporting and communication

Paper submissions for the programme are invited from port authorities, port users, terminal operators, logistics companies, shippers, shipping lines, suppliers of equipment and services to the port community, classification societies, consultants, NGOs etc. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words and should be received by 8 March 2013 latest and should include a picture (jpeg) and biography of the speaker and be sent to congress@greenport.com.
