Northern Gateway go-ahead

The UK Secretary of State for Transport announced her approval dated for the Harbour Revision Order (HRO) plans submitted by PD Ports in April 2006. This is the last and most important external approval required to finalise the NGCT business case and create a circa £300m investment in the deep sea container terminal on the South bank of the river Tees. This will have 1.5 million TEU capacity, to add to the existing capacity.
