Over 70 GreenLine spreader orders for Bromma

Bromma continues to win major new orders for its all-electric GreenLine spreaders, including very strong demand for its single lift all-electric yard units. Bromma has won orders for nearly 70 GreenLine spreaders during the 4th quarter of 2009 alone.

Among major 4th quarter yard all-electric orders were contracts for GreenLine deliveries to: Kenya Port Authority (10), Port of Beirut, Lebanon (6), Port of Buenaventura, Colombia (8), Namport, Namibia (8), Port of Damietta, Egypt (8), Port of Lagos, Nigeria (7), Port of Itapoa, Brazil (12), Port of Sotagus, Portugal (4). Bromma has also just won an order for 5 of the innovative separating twin ship-to-shore all electric spreaders – the STS45E – from the Port of Itapoa, Brazil. In addition, Bromma has won its first separating twin ship-to-shore all electric spreader order for Turkey – an order for the STS45E from Yilport, Turkey. Bromma has now sold more than 40 separating twin all-electrics, with a commercial footprint for this innovative spreader that is truly global. This lighter, lowermaintenance all-electric Bromma separating twin-lift spreader is now in service or on order to ports worldwide, including terminals in: Asia (Thailand, Australia, China), Europe (Germany, Spain, Poland, United Kingdom), Americas (Brazil), Africa (South Africa, Nigeria, Senegal, Morocco), Middle East (Oman, Turkey) and the Mediterranean (Malta) Bromma’s all-electric twin lift product portfolio includes both yard and ship-to-shore solutions, in single-lift and twin-lift capacity. Bromma has seen growing customer interest in all-electric twin-lift solutions for both spreader replacement (for STS45 spreaders) and new terminal expansion projects. The primary “drivers” leading to the specification of all-electric twin lifts are: lower spreader weight, reduced crane power consumption, lower routine maintenance due to the elimination of hydraulics related service points, noise abatement, elimination of oil spill risk, reduction in consumables cost, and improved operational metrics – MMBF and MTTR. Bromma also believes touch screen SCS3 technology is a major factor in the growing specification of STS45E. With SCS3 terminal maintenance technicians gain very fast, very specific on-line spreader fault diagnostics in the event of a spreader downtime event, can make remote, online adjustments to some sensors, such as encoders, and can identify on a predictive basis needed preventive maintenance (this involves identifying when spreader performance begins to fall outside certain defined “normalized performance” parameters). This allows terminal maintenance staff to identify potential spreader problems before they become actual problems. Bromma believes that the adoption of all-electric spreaders for ship-to-shore and twin-lift applications will grow significantly in the years ahead. When Bromma first introduced the all-electric concept for yard spreaders in 2001, acceptance was slow, but gradual. In 2002, Bromma delivered less than 25 all-electric spreaders. However, by 2008 Bromma worldwide deliveries of all-electric yard crane spreaders had risen to more than 1,000 units. Likewise, Bromma believes that the lifecycle cost and reliability advantages that customers have welcomed in yard all-electrics should also drive future adoption of all-electrics in twin-lift ship-to-shore operations. Due to the strong performance advantages of all-electric twin-lift spreaders, many terminals are now taking a close look at an upgrade from hydraulic to all-electric twin-lift spreaders. It is a pattern we saw with single-lifts, and now see with twin-lifts. Terminals are also serious about moving ‘green” in their equipment. The all-electric twin-lift spreader is the right product, at the right time.”
