Port of Kolding wins Danish Ports Initiative Award

The Chairman of Danish Ports, Mr Uffe Steiner Jensen presented the award to the Port of Kolding with the following statement. “The Port of Kolding has made a hard effort since 2001, delivering an ISO14001-certification, concrete emission reductions of up to 40 per cent, and a holistic vision of the port’s role in sustainability, as well as in environmental and climate efforts.

Most importantly, the port involves its industry and customers in the work. As an example, the port and the shipping companies are nearing completion of a project that can show the CO2 reductions if companies transport their goods by ship through the port. The calculator is developed with the University of Southern Denmark and can be used by transport buyers for their CO2-footprint. This example shows how the Port of Kolding is thinking beyond the port in its environmental and climate work. In addition, the total sustainability is ensured, since the initiatives are embedded in the business of the port, and thus also ensures economic sustainability. The Port of Kolding has chosen a winning strategy and is a sustainable winner of the Award.”
