Valencia expansion plans

The port is already a major site for the import of LNG and an extensive dredging project hopes to allow for the port to be able to handle some of the largest LNG ships currently in operation.

Valencia’s facilities will also be developed to allow for the export of LNG cargoes in smaller ships so that it can become a transshipment port, especially serving the Western Mediterranean.

Developments at the Port of Valencia will hope to see the addition of a number of cruise ship berths that can accommodate some of the newest and largest cruise ships currently operating. New buildings to facilitate the handling of passengers will also be added.

This new investment plan will come in stages with €56m invested this year and a further €177m before 2020. Despite the main focus being on the Port of Valencia, Sagunto will also have approximately €44m invested in it during the duration of the project, there is a plan for extensive dredging.
