P&O’s investment in Shellhaven on the north bank of the Thames at Thurrock, will be to the tune of £700m to make the former oil refinery Britain’s largest container port. Phased development is planned out for the next decade and beyond. Another £700m is earmarked for the adjacent business park, which is to be self-financing and operate in partnership with Shell UK.

Ceres Paragon Terminal, Amsterdam has received its first scheduled vessel calls. The Grand Alliance redirected its A and F loops through the terminal. A loop connects Asia and Europe, where it currently calls at both Rotterdam and Hamburg, while the F loop is a new introduction connecting China, Taiwan and Singapore with Hamburg, Amsterdam, Southampton and Gioia Tauro. These two services will call twice weekly at Amsterdam and generate an estimated 130,000TEUs in container traffic.
